New OptiCell demo center launched in Turin

27-03-2009 - CogniTens announced the launch of a European demo center for its fully automated 3D measurement system, the OptiCell.
Branche: Overige industrie

This comes following increased customer interest and growing demand by industrial companies for robotic driven metrology system in the shop floor environment, writes Cognitens on their website.
CogniTens is part of the Hexagon Metrology group and provider of 3D optical measurement solutions. OptiCell is CogniTens 3D optical measurement system designed for supporting off-line recurring measurements of parts and assemblies in the production shop floor environment. OptiCell provides 3D measurement results required for quality iterations during tryout, production ramp up, quality assurance and dimensional process control. OptiCell generated inspection reports provide comprehensive information on surface deviations, assembly feature locations, edges and other dimensions of interest.
The OptiCell demo cell in Turin features newly formed cooperation with Comau Robotics, manufacturer of industrial robots. Comau’s latest SMART NJ robot and new C4G controller unit are integrated with the OptiCell technology to drive fast, safe and easily operated 3D inspection programs.
The Hexagon Metrology demo center in Turin was set up in 2003. It was intended to showcase large coordinate measuring machines by DEA e.g. the dual-arm BRAVO, PRIMA RI with Light Milling option, and GLOBAL eXtra. In 2005, a section was created for high-accuracy inspection including a Leitz PMM-C, among other equipment.
Today, the center also exhibits new non-contact products such as laser scanners, laser trackers, portable CMMs, CMM-V and particularly technologies for inspecting car body details. Since early 2008 the demo center also showcases the portable Optigo measurement and digitizing system and from now also the OptiCell system.
